It's that time of year when all we want to do is wear our pyjamas, or clothing that is as close to pyjamas whilst still being socially acceptable to wear in public. The evenings are dark, and anything that will keep you cosy is a god send, and knitwear is the perfect solution for all of the above. The other day whilst I was reorganising my wardrobe, I realised I could categorise my knitwear into 5 key groups, so I thought I'd share them since it's knitwear season after all!

1. The Roll Neck

This is probably my favourite category, I mean who doesn't love a jumper that'll keep your neck nice and cosy?! Now if we were going to get really specific, this category would have like 3 subcategories,  like turtle neck, oversized roll neck etc, but let's just keep it top level shall we? Roll necks literally go with EVERYTHING in the autumn/winter season. I love to wear the thinner kind under dresses and with skirts, whilst a good chunky cable knit roll neck is perfect with jeans.

2. Chunky Knits

Another style of knitwear I love is the chunky knits (like the one in the feature photo for this post). I always make sure to buy my chunky knitwear a little oversized otherwise it can make me look quite boxy and not in a cute way either. Chunky knits are so easy to throw on with jeans, or leggings for a really comfy vibe. Also, so long as the knit isn't super chunky, I think they look very cute tucked into a denim or corduroy skirt.

3. The Statement Knit

Usually knitwear isn't the focal point of an outfit and is just there to first of all keep you warm, and second of all to compliment the rest of the outfit, but there are some jumpers out there that are the perfect statement piece of an outfit. I'd wear most of these with a super simple outfit, like a pair of black jeans and a black leather jacket so that the jumper can do all the talking.

4. The Knit Dress

A new favourite of mine recently has been the knitted dress. I always thought they would make me look super bulky, but I've found that if you get a thinner knit they can actually be super flattering. I've found a few in Penneys recently for €16 and they were roll neck too so the comfort level was a solid 10/10. I think I love knitted dresses the most because it's literally an entire outfit all in one easy to throw on piece. Before the cold weather arrived I was wearing them bare legged with trainers, but now a pair of tights and boots work perfectly.

5. The 'Goes With Everything' Knit

This category probably takes up about 60% of my knitwear collection because they're just so easy to style. Usually a neutral or a black, they'll go with pretty much any outfit I own and are perfect if I want a more laid back, simple outfit. This section is a good one to invest in because they're timeless and you can wear them year after year. At the moment, I'm actually thinking about buying some higher quality knits for this category because I know they'll stand the test of time and will be worth the few extra euro.

What's your favourite type of knit? Or do you think I've finally lost the plot for categorising my knitwear?! If you are looking for some new knitwear, you can click on the photos about and shop my favourite knits that are available on the high street at the moment. I hope you enjoyed this post, thanks so much for reading!

The 5 Staple Knits We All Need In Our Wardrobes

6.11.18

Autumn is officially here and I'm more than a little excited about all of the clothes that come along with it! While I absolutely love summer and the sunshine, I much prefer autumn/winter style and all of the cosy knits, coats and colours that go hand in hand with the colder months. If only we could have summer weather all year round but still be able to wear all of the cosy clothing too, right?!

I feel like this year especially all of our favourite shops have pulled out all the stops when it comes to A/W fashion and there are so many things that have caught my eye over the last couple of weeks, so I thought it only right to share them with you lot! H&M (who currently have 50% off and River Island in particular are playing an absolute blinder with their new stock, with so many gorgeous knits, and coats so we'll all be lovely and warm and oh so stylish over the next few months.

I'm sure you can tell from the photo above as well as the bits on my wish list below that I'm very much in love with anything that's in the gorgeous burnt orange shade that seems to be super popular in the shops lately. Whether it's a faux leather skirt, a bag, a jumper or even a pair of boots, if it's a deep shade of tan/orange, I need it. Now, I think that's more than enough waffling from me, because I'm sure a lot of you don't care at all about my favourite colour for clothing and just want some shopping inspiration so here you go!

What's your favourite piece from my wish list? Do you love all of the autumn/winter style or do you prefer summer clothing? I hope you enjoyed this post and if you were looking for some A/W inspo that you found it!

What's On My Autumn/Winter Fashion Wish List?

20.9.18

I am a coat addict. There, I said it. I just can't help myself. All I want to do is buy coats, I mean can you blame me when it's so cold at the moment?! I'm sure a lot of you are the same. You go into a shop and instantly you're drawn to the rails of coats and jackets even though you've got enough at home to open your own shop...

There are so many gorgeous styles on the high street at the moment, from the teddy bear coats, to the aviator jackets, is it any wonder we love them? In the winter I love to wear a statement coat or jacket with a comfy/casual outfit underneath. It's simple and practical because thanks to all of these faux fur coats that are so on trend right now, you'll be kept as snug as a bug.

Since I love coats and jackets so much, I've obviously compiled quite a long wish-list so today I thought I'd share them with you, just in case you're on the hunt for the perfect winter warmer!

I think my particular favourites from this post have to be the jackets featured below. I especially love the red aviator jacket from River Island which is currently on sale (like I needed any convincing)! The studded biker jacket from Pretty Little Thing is another steal at just €21 and of course that gorgeous aviator jacket from Missguided with the deep green faux fur lining is just too fab.

Are you a fellow coat addict? What's your favourite style of coat or jacket? I hope you enjoyed this post and if you were on the lookout for some shopping inspiration, I hope it helped!
Thanks so much for reading.

How Many Coats Is Too Many Coats?

18.12.17

It's coming up to college graduation season and you can't go through a big life event like that without an outfit now can you? I've actually had this post sitting in my drafts for weeks now and the reason I delayed in publishing it is because I was waiting for an exam result that would determine whether or not I could continue onto the fourth and final year of my degree.

What To Wear - Graduation

18.9.17

Since it's been almost 2 months since my last haul blog post I thought I'd share what I've picked up from Penneys and Zara over the last few weeks. I often do hauls like this over on my Snapchat (my username is penneystoprada) or Instagram stories (you can find my Instagram here) so make sure to follow me over there too to see my unhealthy shopping habit in all it's glory!

What I've Bought Recently From Penneys & Zara

3.9.17

Wardrobe staples, aka a phrase that will help you to justify buying yet another knitted jumper, or in this case, biker jacket! Last week I shared some of my favourite slogan t-shirts (catch up on that post here) and lots of you said you liked this kind of post, so lets make it a regular gig shall we?

Next to slogan tees, the next item of clothing that takes up the majority of my wardrobe is biker jackets. I love them, always have, always will and I am all for every single shop bringing them out in all of these mad colours. The yellow biker in the picture above is from Penneys and was only €28, and the red faux leather biker is from Zara and is still pretty reasonable at just €50.

Biker jackets are a brilliant statement piece, especially if it's a colourful one like some of the ones I have linked below. They instantly transform an outfit and add that air of badass biker chic that I only wish I gave off naturally! Most of the time I pair mine with a striped or slogan t-shirt, a pair of jeans and Converse and even though it's a very casual outfit, the biker jacket gives a bit more interest to it.

Below is an Instagram example of how I style my biker jackets. I'm wearing the grey version of the €28 faux suede biker jacket from Penneys and I also have it in pink too because when I love something I can't help buying it in every colour possible!

Like I mentioned above, pretty much every single shop have some kind of biker jacket offering these days so there are lots to choose from. While I love how inexpensive the faux suede bikers are, I do have my eye on a few real suede ones from ASOS and also from Blank NYC which cost around the €150 mark, which is actually fairly reasonable as I have seen some real suede jackets costing upwards of €300!

I've rounded up some of my current favourite biker jackets below (you can click on the images to shop), so if you're on the hunt for the perfect one, hopefully I've made the search that bit easier! I've also tried to included lots of different price ranges and some of the jackets from the likes of Pull & Bear and Pretty Little Thing are very inexpensive!

Are you loving the biker jacket trend? What colours have you picked them up in? I'm seriously considering getting a blue one next time! Thanks so much for reading.

Wardrobe Staples - The Biker Jacket

31.8.17

From a quick glance at my Instagram you'll see that I wear some sort of slogan tee/jumper almost everyday, I love them. It's gotten to the stage where every time I go shopping I almost always pick up something with a slogan on it.

I love being able to wear some sort of sassy message and they definitely liven up an otherwise plain outfit, so today I've decided to write an ode to the slogan tee and share some of my current favourites with you!

I didn't really know what to call this post, but it is full of bits and pieces that I've bought over the past month, so there you go! I'm still trying to stick to my 'only buy it if I really love it and will wear it' rule, and I'm doing pretty well, but sometimes I just can't resist the latest trends. It's not all bad though because my purchases have resulted in today's haul, so I hope you enjoy it!

A Haul Full Of Bits & Pieces

12.7.17

A 'haul' from someone who only last month swore off fast fashion? I promise I can explain! If you read my post on 'The Death Of Fast Fashion' then you'll know that over the past few months I've made an effort to steer clear of 'trend pieces' for the most part and mainly focus on staple pieces. While some of the items in this post might be classed as quite trend based, I know I'll wear them next summer too so I can kind of justify it, right? Anyway, with that little disclaimer out of the way (can you tell I feel buyers guilt?), let's get on with the post!

My Favourite Recent Purchases

So if you've been following Penneys To Prada for a while, you'll know that I've done a few posts like this where I go into Penneys and take pictures of some of the new stock and make one big blog post, instead of posting pictures one at a time like I do on Facebook! I haven't actually done one of these posts since 2015, but if you'd like, you can read them here and here!
