#GirlBoss & What It Taught Me

4.4.16

Hello! #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso, founder & CEO of Nasty Gal, had been on my reading list for so long and I'm slightly annoyed at myself for not reading it sooner. Without sounding too cliché, this book has really changed my outlook on a lot of aspects in my life and today I wanted to share with you a few of the things that really stood out to me!

As you can see from above, I use my iPad to read books and it gives you the option to highlight text, which I'd never actually used until I read #GirlBoss and found myself highlighting a few lines every page or so! Sophia Amoruso delivers hard hitting honesty about life in quite a witty way and I also loved hearing about how she built Nasty Gal from the ground up. I have a feeling this is a book I'll always come back to when I need a pep talk and if you haven't read it yet then what are you waiting for? Below are three of my most favourite quotes from it that I think all of us modern day women should live by!

As soon as I read this line in #GirlBoss it immediately clicked with me, as it's only recently that I've realised I'm so much happier now that I don't let other peoples opinions of my life effect me.

Much like the first quote, focusing solely on your own life is so much more beneficial than worrying yourself with what others are doing. In my post 'Social Media - People Aren't All They 'Post' To Be...' I spoke about how comparison is the thief of joy and Sophia really believes that too. If you just put on your blinkers, focus on your own life, and work hard, you'll get places a lot faster.

I've saved my most favourite quote from #GirlBoss for last, I actually have this graphic set as the lock screen on my phone. Success is a very personal thing and I think that once you stop letting society's perception of failure and success influence your life, it becomes a lot easier to succeed.

Have you read #GirlBoss? I'd love to know what you thought of it so be sure to leave me a comment below! I created all of the graphics above myself so feel free to share them on Instagram or even set them as your own wallpaper and thank you so much for reading!
