The Gibson Hotel - A Review

30.4.15

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share with you all a review of The Gibson Hotel in Dublin. If you've seen the 'WIWT #5 - Ben Howard At The 3Arena' post you'll know that about two weeks ago my boyfriend and I went to see Ben Howard perform and we stayed in The Gibson Hotel.

The Gibson Hotel is just a two minute walk to the doors of The 3Arena and every time I've been to gigs before I always wished I was staying there instead of getting on the very crowded Luas after the gig.

The room we stayed in was one of their Superior Rooms which had a large shared balcony looking out over the 3Arena and Dublin city. Even though the balcony was shared between five rooms (ours included) we actually didn't see another person out there the two days we were in the hotel.

It was lovely to sit out on chairs in the evening sun before the gig and relax. That's a word that will be mentioned a lot throughout this post, 'relax'. The Gibson hotel had such a relaxing and calm vibe and you couldn't help but feel very chilled out.

The room itself was very spacious, with a huge, comfortable bed, blinds that closed using buttons and air conditioning which was very welcome as Dublin was unusually warm for a day in mid April.

The bathroom had a huge shower with both a 'normal' shower head and a rainfall shower head. There wasn't a bath but to be honest it wasn't really needed with such a good shower. One feature of the bathroom that surprised me was that under the sink there was a speaker so you could hear what was on the tv in the bedroom even with the bathroom door closed!

Onto my most favourite part of The Gibson Hotel, the 'Relaxation Room'. We stumbled upon this room almost by accident whilst exploring the hotel and I'm definitely glad we did.

The Relaxation Room features a sauna, steam room, huge rainfall shower to rinse off, a foot spa, comfy loungers to relax on and even outdoor copper baths! We made full use of the Relaxation Room before we checked out and headed off for a day of shopping and it was absolute heaven.

The copper baths are pretty huge with hot water at the ready and they overlook the docks and the 3Arena. It's certainly an experience and while I didn't try them out myself, there was a couple using them who said it was very relaxing.

Another part of the hotel that we found was the 24 hour gym. The gym has everything from ellipticals and treadmills to rowing machines and kettle bells. Between the Relaxation Room and the 24 hour gym I think it's safe to say that The Gibson Hotel has everything you could ask for in terms of amenities.

The morning following the gig we headed down to breakfast which was a buffet breakfast. The restaurant area looked out onto the courtyard and with all the windows it was a gorgeous airy space. The breakfast was delicious and as well as the usual bacon, sausages and eggs they had a wide range of pastries.

I will definitely be returning to The Gibson as it's in the most perfect location for gigs and shopping in Dublin, the Luas stops right outside the doors which is very convenient. The staff were more than helpful and very friendly and overall it was just a lovely experience.

Have you ever stayed in The Gibson hotel?
