A Night With Hudson Taylor

28.2.15

Hello everyone! I'm happy to say I'm back after taking a break due to personal reasons, I never realised how much I love blogging until I took that break. Last night, my boyfriend and I went to see the very talented Hudson Taylor, a duo of brothers from Dublin, performing in Kilkenny. Keep reading to see what I thought!

The supporting act was another sibling duo, a band I'd never heard of called Southern from Belfast. I was pretty blown away at how talented this little known band is! With a sound reminiscent of Johnny Cash with a bit of punk thrown in, Southern had you wanting to dance the night away. I highly recommend checking them out!

After Southern had rocked their socks off it was then time for Hudson Taylor to take the stage. I've been a huge fan of the boys since their early days when they first performed the classic Chasing Rubies in 2011, and watching them busk on the streets of Dublin. Seeing a band that you've followed for so many years getting more recognition is lovely and I hope they continue to get bigger as they definitely deserve all the attention they're getting at the moment. I got to meet the lovely Alfie before the gig and he was very down to earth and friendly, which makes it even easier to love them, as they're still genuine, despite the growing fame.

It was the first time Hudson Taylor had ever played in Kilkenny and I think they were surprised at the welcome they got, the crowd were sometimes singing louder than they were, even with their mics! They played all my favourites, Chasing Rubies, Care, Second Best and Weapons. I love small intimate gigs like this one, in a lovely little theatre in Kilkenny, because you can almost taste the atmosphere. Sometimes in bigger venues, the atmosphere can get lost but last night was amazing.

If you've never heard of Hudson Taylor then go right now and listen to them, like right now! And if like me, you're a big fan of the boys, they've just announced a few more Irish dates around May, so definitely go and see them!

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you give them a listen, be sure to let me know in the comments what you think! Thanks for reading!
